/ SHOW: 9/13 (Portsmouth NH) This
summer I've been busier than ever, particularly with my production house
PARMA Recordings. We've got a full slate of recording sessions this
fall and winter with artists such as Richard Stoltzman, Vit Micka, Gil
Rose and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, the Moravian Philharmonic,
the Pilsen Philharmonic, and many more. Visit www.parmarecordings.com
for more information. Dreadnaught
is in the studio working on material for a new full-length release,
stay tuned for more details. Also check out YANKEE MAGAZINE's profile
of the band and our retrospective HIGH HEAT & CHIN MUSIC. Some
albums I've produced that have just been released: STREET
DANCE by Patrick Beckman, MUSIC
FOR WOODWINDS VOL. 1 by John Mitchell, and PAINTED
SHADOWS OF CHILDHOOD by Donald Betts.
Also out now are PERSPECTIVES VOL. 2 featuring Richard Drexler, Antonio
Giacometti, and more, and NEW AMERICAN WORKS FOR CLARINET VOL. 2 featuring
Richard Stoltzman and William Thomas McKinley among others. This
past May I traveled to Slovakia to produce a week of orchestral recording
sessions with the Slovak
Radio Symphony Orchestra, conductor Kirk Trevor, clarinetists Richard
Stoltzman and Kim Ellis, and composers Jason Barabba, and
Pete Farmer. We also recorded Copland's "Clarinet Concerto"
along with works by Michael Cunningham, Keith Kramer, and David Gaines.
The award-winning
"Writers On A New England Stage" series continued this past
April and May with Cokie Roberts, Barbara Walters, Louise Erdrich, and
house band Dreadnaught. In fall '07, we appeared with Pulitzer Prize
winner Richard Russo (EMPIRE FALLS, BRIDGE OF SIGHS) and acclaimed documentarian
Ken Burns (JAZZ, BASEBALL, THE WAR). Visit the Music
Hall and NHPR
websites for info and to hear the performances with yours truly on bass,
Rick Habbib on drums, and Justin Walton on guitar. NH
Magazine has awarded Dreadnaught
with a "Best Of NH 2007" citation: "The legendary Seacoast
band Dreadnaught has released HIGH HEAT & CHIN MUSIC, a two-disc
set with selections from their catalogue covering virtually every genre
imaginable besides polka and Tuvan throat singing. Ten years of Dreadnaught
equals a lifetime of creative output for any other band." (Editor
Rick Broussard).
